Merch is how most independent artists actually make money at a show. The Printing Needle prints for Southern California bands, solo artists, DJs, podcasters and content creators out of our Garden Grove shop — small merch runs you can afford before the tour, and quick reorders when a design sells out.
Two things separate merch that sells from merch that sits in a bin. First, the blank: fans paying twenty-five or thirty dollars at a merch table notice a cheap, boxy shirt instantly, so we steer artists toward softer retail-fit garments. Second, the feel of the print — a heavy full-front print on a cheap tee feels like a plastic sheet. We use soft-hand plastisol so the shirt stays light and wearable. We print for brands that sell to Macy's, Ross, TJ Maxx, Fashion Nova and PacSun — and for the schools, teams and restaurants down the street. There is no order minimum. For screen printing we suggest 24 pieces or more because the per-piece price drops, but it is a suggestion, never a requirement.
