That's the gang sheet hack, and if you've never heard of it, it might be the single most useful thing you learn about custom printing this year.
So What Exactly Is a Gang Sheet?
A DTF (direct-to-film) gang sheet is one large sheet of transfer film, usually 22" wide and as long as you need, packed edge-to-edge with multiple designs, sizes, and colors, all printed and cut in a single pass. Instead of ordering one design at a time, you "gang up" everything you need onto one sheet: your logo in three sizes, a teammate's nickname design, a front chest print and a back print, whatever mix you've got.
Every design on the sheet cures together, peels together, and gets pressed onto garments individually whenever you're ready. You're not limited to one shirt style or one color of fabric either, the same sheet works on cotton tees, hoodies, tote bags, and hats.
Why This Actually Saves You Money
Screen printing charges by the screen, every color, every design needs its own screen burned, and that setup cost gets spread across your order. Small or mixed orders eat that cost the hardest. A gang sheet flips the model: you're paying for square inches of film, not per-design setup. Pack more designs onto the same sheet and your per-piece cost drops.
It's also why gang sheets have become the go-to for orders that used to be "too complicated" to quote affordably, a rec league with eight different jersey numbers, an office ordering five different department logos, or a family reunion where every kid wants a different design on the same shirt color.

How to Actually Get the Most Out of a Gang Sheet
- Batch by size, not by garment. If you know you need small, medium, and large versions of the same logo, gang them together, we'll size and space them so nothing gets wasted.
- Mix your whole order onto one sheet. Front chest logo, back print, sleeve tag, hat patch, if it's DTF, it can all live on the same film run.
- Vector files print sharper. A clean .ai, .eps, or high-res .png with a transparent background will always look crisper than a low-res screenshot, especially on smaller designs packed tight.
- Order a little extra film. Gang sheets are reusable for reorders, if you ganged your logo at three sizes, keep the leftover space in mind for next time.
When a Gang Sheet Isn't the Right Call
We'll tell you straight: if you need 200 shirts in one design and one color, screen printing will almost always beat DTF on cost per piece at that volume. Gang sheets shine when your order has variety, different designs, different sizes, different garments, not when it's one design printed a hundred times.
